S. Anna S.p.A. Airport
, founded in November 1993, is a jointstock
company presently holded by the Region Calabria , the
Province of Crotone, the municipality of Crotone and the Chamber
of Commerce of Crotone as public holders and by the reference
shareholder Euroairports S.p.A. (Miro Radici Finance S.p.A. e
Corporation America S.A.).
Prior to the start of regular schedules in 1996, the handling
company had already set a development plan presented to the
government authority and later included into the agreement
protocol undersigned by the Ministry of Transportation and
Regione Calabria, regulating the control of the investments
necessary for the enlargement, expansion and requalification of the
Calabrian airports.
The following General Plan Agreement (A.P.Q.) within the
P.O.N. intervention on Transportation has represented the main
instrument for the echonomic planning to achieve the interventions
provided by the structural funds allowed for the years 2000-2006
and 2007-2013. The building of the new Air terminal represented
the very first step to the modernization of Aeroporto S. Anna.
The building of the new Traffic Control Tower is in progress to be
completed within 2009. This important work includes the whole
technical block(facilities and new plants), which will take an overall
investment of about 9million euro. Furthermore, a call for tenders
is being executed for the extension of the runway (first allotment)
from the present 2000mt to 3000mt, with a loan of about 7,9million
euro. Moreover, the work on the new aprons and the regularization
of the runway security areas (strips, RESA) with an overall loan of
5,5million euro are being completed.
The A.P.Q. 2007-2013 for S. Anna S.p.A. Airport
also provides for the
installation of the I.L.S. system for the instrumental landing
operations, the enlargement of the old Air terminal, the new road
network and the new s.s.106 junction, the expansion of the parking
areas and other additional interventions, for a global loaning of
20million euro.
In a few years, S. Anna S.p.A. Airport
will come out to be a modern and
efficient airport, ready to handle passengers and aircrafts according
to the international standards: this side of Calabria will open to the
world, at last.
In the last years, S. Anna S.p.A. Airport
has registered an increase in
the commercial traffic, exceeding the treshold of 100thousand
passengers/year.
